is a Ukrainianword that means “speech.” It’s also a wordplay: “Pro Mova”  in two words means “about language.”  So, we’re all about language learning – in more ways than one!

Our team originates from – one of the most prominent players in the Ukrainian tech market. In 2019, Misha Galian pitched the idea of a platform with bite-sized language courses to Andrew Skrypnyk and Valeria Vakulska. Our language learning app, Ten Words, appeared on the app stores just a couple of weeks later, with the simple concept of teaching ten foreign words each day. After that, we changed the name to Words Booster.

The Words Booster app for iOS and Android was an instant hit. It got over 800,000 downloads in 2019 alone. Since then, our community of learners has grown over 10x, and we’ve worked hard to improve our product and expand our toolbox. In 2022, we became a one-stop solution for all language learning needs, including a tutoring program and a vast library of courses.

But unfortunately, the story isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. On February 24, 2022, Russia began a full-scale invasion of the country. Our Ukrainian team members suddenly found themselves working during wartime. We changed our name to to honor our Ukrainian roots and dedicate our brand to our colleagues, friends, and defenders.

At Promova, we don’t just teach language mechanics but also provide insight into the history, customs, conventions, and traditions of the cultures where the languages are spoken. We’re certain that when people understand other cultures and perspectives, they are less likely to make assumptions, spread stereotypes, and discriminate against those who are different from themselves.
